This was my second v60. One for work and one for home. The first one I got has Cherry MX Greens and is over 2 years old and still works great. I picked up this version over the summer though, with Gateron Greens, and it started mistyping this week. I unplugged it, and the bottom was very warm. I plugged it in again the next day and it malfunctioned even worse. I couldn't type enough to log into my computer. I don't know if the the error was with the switches or what, but it's ridiculous that it only lasted for 5 months before it died. The front print looks very clean though.
KBP is to be commended for their willingness to produce their V60 and other form-factor keyboards with a wide variety of switch types. Normally, I am not a fan of Cherry mx or clone switches, but I decided to give Gateron Yellow a try. I like them! They are as smooth as vintage Cherry mx Black switches, and their resistance is in the sweet spot between mx Red and mx Black. I decided to swap out the case and keycaps. My KBP V60 now sits in a TEX CNC aluminum case and is fitted with dye-sub PBT Leopold black-on-white alphas, Matias blank black modifiers and spacebar, Leopold black-on-white Fn key, and a white-on-red Esc key from Tai Hao. The layout is now HHKB, thanks to my Hasu USB-USB converter. This is now an ultra-premium sharp-looking keyboard with an agreeable bottoming out sound and smooth typing feel. Highly recommended!
Shift light is stuck and function keys don't work. There is no way to make the keyboard's function keys to work in arrow mode. Literally none of the keys are function keys.
Two things to review here. First.the keyboard.and second.the store. First time shopping from here. My experience was this: Exceptional! Friendly people but professionals at the same time, extremely good customer service. highly recommend their store. Everyone should stop shopping from big chains and shop from individual stores to support them and the local economy and to be able to enjoy great customer service, professional expertise from masters on their craft, to have any assistance one can possibly need and to have a wide variety of products at their disposal. We need to keep this stores going. And especially these guys. Excellent customer service, definitely going to shop from them again and encourage everyone to do so as well.
Now.to the kb. If you have tried the gateron clears then needless to say anything regarding the smoothness of the switches. If you haven't tried them then I can tell you that they are almost as smooth as they can get (there are also the topre ones at 30g but I haven't tried those), much more noticeably smooth and lightweight (low actuation force) than the reds, just buttery smooth and a delight to type on. They are extremely light to the touch. One needs to apply almost no pressure at all. Have typed extensively on gateron clears before and they are so light to type on like nothing out there (again.haven't tried the topre ones).
Regarding the keyboard now. Haven't really used it much at all. Been very busy. Was going to write this review after I had tried it extensively but there is not really need to. The kb looks and feels solid. The detachable cable is especially useful for when traveling. The size is small. Especially useful the right cluster that can be switched for arrow keys but using the fn l etc keys for arrows is much more productive. The switches on the bottom very useful as well. Overall great buy.
TL DR.
Solid keyboard, gateron clears smooth as butter and like puffy clouds under your fingertips. The shop is exceptional with amazing customer service. Highly suggesting them.
I love this keyboard. I already have a full size RGB keyboard and wanted one without lights/ led's. I was also looking for a keyboard that was going to be 60%, sleek and simple. Luckily for me, this keyboard is 60% and has front printed letters. As for the switches, I wanted a linear one since I already have owned keyboards that have Cherry Blue and Brown Mx Switches. The Gateron Clear switches in this keyboard are just like what I saw on some reviews. When you type it is 'buttery smooth' and the actuation point only needs 35g as compared to red switches @ 45g.
